We’re the Armstrongs and we’re glad you’re here! We’re living our best life, doing what we love! We have three kids and our goldendoodle Woodson. There’s always a lot of action in our home...but that’s how we love it...never a dull moment! Sam is originally a Midwesterner that moved to Florida in 2006. I (Melanie) was raised right here in Central Florida and in 2008 I opened The Garden Café, a lunch café offering special dinner and entertainment events and catering. We met soon after as fate would have it, when Sam delivered my first food order at the restaurant. A couple years later we married (remind us to tell you how we catered our own wedding) and 3 kids came tumbling after. Eventually, after 10 years of operating our restaurant, The Garden Café, in downtown Dade City we realized our passion and the future of our family business was in the event industry. We opened Savory Roots Catering and Events in May of 2018 and now we have a blast creating fun and enjoyable experiences for all of our clients. We feel blessed to be following our dreams with our family business and sharing our love of entertaining. We have a passion for hospitality and a love of good homestyle comfort food and we’re excited to share that with you!

Megan began working as a banquet server in early 2021 and since then has eagerly learned other positions including bartending, Team Lead and Banquet Captain in training! Megan's background is in retail merchandising but she's always had a passion for the event industry. She's enjoyed planning her own events before arriving at Savory Roots, where she feels she is able to combine her skills in a position that's truly meant for her! She enjoys working closely with our clients every step of the way; utilizing her creativity and keen eye for detail to bring our client's vision to life! Megan lives on a cattle farm in Dade City with her husband Derrick and their three children, Wyatt, Molly and Lucy. In her spare time she loves trying new recipes, singing, fitness, traveling and cheering for her Alma Mater, Florida State University!
Stephanie started her journey with Savory Roots in 2017 as a catering server. Her hard work and attention to detail quickly made her an invaluable asset to our team. Stephanie works full time as an HR Manager with a large steel company. She also now works with us part-time as our HR Manager and Bar Manager! Part of why she enjoys working with Savory Roots is being able to interact with clients and witness these powerful moments in their lives that they will cherish forever.
Stephanie is engaged to be married to her wonderful fiancé, Ryan and has 2 precious children, Aidan and Leia. They also have 3 cats and 2 chickens.
During her spare time she enjoys home renovation projects, cooking, camping, sporting events, bargain hunting and using her label maker.
Jessica has been catering events with us since 2011 with The Garden Cafe! When Savory Roots opened in 2019 she joined us as a Banquet Captain. Jessica enjoys the excitement around planning and setting up for an event and especially enjoys helping to create memorable experiences for couples on their wedding day. She enjoys problem solving and working with her team members to make sure each event goes smoothly. Jessica expanded her role in the company to become the Staffing Manager in 2020 and she is responsible for managing a staff of approximately 50 banquet servers! Her work ethic and commitment to our staff and clients makes her a great asset to our team!
When Jessica isn't working she enjoys spending time with her partner Austin and their two children Bellamy and Carter. She enjoys fitness and being outdoors, riding ATVs, boating and spending time with her family!
